Keeping the Faith

Chuck Poteet has been a trusted real estate broker in Houston, Texas for 35 years. He has assisted over 3,000 buyers, sellers and investors with their real estate needs. He owns a 3,000 sq. ft. office in Houston and has 5 people on staff. He also has about 20 agents that work with his company.

When Hurricane Harvey hit, Chuck got a foot-and-a-half of water in his office. All of the walls had to be pulled down and reconstructed, the computers and furniture were ruined and he could no longer afford to pay his staff.

Because of the hurricane, Chuck lost 12 property listings. He also had 4 properties that went into closing and estimates that he lost $80,000 to $100,000 in commissions.

He felt like all of his hard work over the years had been shoveled out the door by the flood. Since the damages to his business were so excessive, we decided to give him a grant of $10,000.

Chuck was almost in tears and could not believe that strangers had stepped in to help him rebuild his business. His motto in life has always been “Faith Not Fear,” and his faith had finally paid off.
